Pre-Surgical Testing
At the Halifax Vision Centre we are pleased to provide the most advanced pre-operative diagnostic testing for patients planning on having phakic intraocular lens implantation, réfractive lens exchange or cataract surgery.

Zeiss IOL Master

This state of the art machine uses laser light to take precise measurements of the eye with an accuracy to 1/100th of a millimeter.  These measurements are important to calculate the power of the intraocular lens to be implanted to ensure the best results.

Nidek OPD Scan

This advanced diagnostic tool actually combines several functions into one machine.  It performs the following functions and takes only a few seconds to complete:
  • Autorefraction - gives the refractive power of the eye
  • Corneal topography - maps the surface of the cornea and determines whether there is any astigmatism
  • Pupillometry – measures the size of the pupils which can be important in determining which lens implant is most appropriate for you
  • Wavefront aberrometry – determines if there are any irregularities in the focusing power of your eye and helps your surgeon determine which lens implant is best for you

Halifax Vision Centre is the only office in Atlantic Canada to offer this sophisticated technology so that your doctor can fully assess your eyes on your initial visit and make a recommendation on which lens implant that would fulfill your vision requirements without a return trip.
